Going Live Lesson 10

Going Live And Announcing It With A Bang!

By now, you should be ready to go live, that is, to publish your website for the World Wide Web to witness.

Publishing your website can be complicated, depending on which method you choose. This is the reason why I earlier recommended a web hosting service that has a web-based easy upload feature, as such will make your life easier.

Nonetheless, you can always contact your web hosting service’s technical support department in case you run into trouble.

The important thing at this point is to establish as many backlinks to your website as possible. Google says that you don’t have to submit your website for their indexing; they will find your website themselves. This can only mean that their search engine spiders will try to look for your website by hopping from one link to the next.

But with billions of pages on the World Wide Web, the process can take weeks, if not months, before your website can get indexed in their web pages. There should be a way to expedite the process, right?

The best way to do this is by, as we have said earlier, establishing as many backlinks as possible. The more websites linking to your pages, the higher your chances are of getting indexed by Google at the soonest possible time.

Notice that we have reserved 4 days for this step. This is because the methods we will discuss here will help you cement a lot of useful backlinks that will ensure the highest chances of Google picking up your website and indexing it in its database. Though some of the techniques we will study here are quite comprehensive, it is suggested that you try your best to achieve all of them. This will give your website a magnificent chance of getting indexed within a couple of days, and better yet, scoring a higher-than-average page rank and winning a good number of visitors in the process.

Not bad for a startup website, eh?

Press Release

To invite instant visitors as soon as your website is launched, it is advisable to submit a press release to as many newswires as possible.

A press release is a newsworthy piece about a particular subject, which in our case is your website. With a press release, you should focus on answering the five basic questions: what, where, when, why, and who. Remember, a press release is not a sales page. It is not an advertisement tool (at least, not a blatant one.) The trick is in writing a news piece about the launch of your website. Here are some guide questions that will help you come up with a press release:

What is your press release all about?
What is the subject of your website?
Why was your website created?
What is the URL address of your website?
What is the story behind such a URL address?
When was your website launched?
Who is the webmaster?
Your press release should be at least 300 words long, but it should not exceed 750 words.

You can submit it to the net’s number one newswire,www.prweb.com

It is the newswire site that is frequently visited by a lot of webmasters looking for newsworthy content. It is even frequented by offline publishers looking for news to distribute through their print publications, and if your press release is chosen, you’ll be opening your website to an entirely new audience.

The more newswire sites you use, the more traffic you can generate for your website.

Article Marketing

There are a lot of article directories on the Internet. These article directories will allow you to submit your unique and highly informative articles, which they will publish on their website.

Together with your article submissions, you will be allowed a resource box. A resource box is a space where you can introduce yourself as well as your website, and provide any link you wish to include.

This is essential for your promotional campaigns, since it will mean that every article will have a backlink to your main website.

Now here’s the clincher. Most of these article directories have a high page rank. If a website with a high page rank links to yours, you’ll receive a tremendous boost to your own page rank!

Furthermore, there are thousands of article directories out there. Imagine if you’d submit just one article to 500 article directories. You’d have 500 backlinks! Ezine editors and other webmasters also search these article directories for content they can add to their own newsletters or websites. If your article is good enough, it’ll get picked up and your link will be displayed with it. This will mean more backlinks for you!

Here are some of the best article directories you MUST use:

www.ezinearticles.com
www.goarticles.com
www.articlefactory.com
www.isnare.com

These four article directories are the most visited. Hence, your article stands the best chance of getting picked up by editors and webmasters if you submit to these article banks.

Search Engine Submission

Google may say that you don’t need to submit your website to their services as they will find your pages themselves, but this doesn’t mean that other search engines share the same philosophy.

MSN allows webmasters to submit their websites for faster indexing. Simply go tohttp://www.bing.com/webmaster/SubmitSitePage.aspx and type in the URL of your website.

Yahoo allows the same option. You can simply point your browser tohttp://search.yahoo.com/info/submit.html and you’re all good to go.

There are more search engines, of course. A lot of paid services offer to submit your URL to as many as a thousand of these search engines.

If you don’t want to pay, there are also some free services that will submit your website to a selected number of search engines. I would recommendwww.ineedhits.com

They offer a free service that will submit your URL to 20 search engines.

Submitting your website to search engines doesn’t mean automatic indexing, however. It just means that your website will be in their queue. This queue may last for weeks, if not months, but if you’re lucky, you might get indexed in a matter of days. It’s worth the try, but the surest path to getting indexed is still in building your backlinks.
